Ten years ago, the United States asked Sigrid Kaag to make herself available as a potential new Secretary-General of the United Nations. According to the former D66 party leader, the fact that this did not happen at the time was due to the other priorities of the Netherlands at that moment, she says on VPRO’s Zomergasten. ‘In my experience, the Netherlands is not always the best country to campaign in.’
