Why a Judge Stopped for 60 Days the Drop of Imputability to 14 Years in the Province of Buenos Aires
Judge Marta Elba Pascual, head of the Juvenile Criminal Court No. 2 of Lomas de Zamora, announced the grounds for the extensive ruling in which she decided to suspend for 60 days the application of the law that lowers the age of imputability to 14 years in the province of Buenos Aires, within the framework of the new Juvenile Penal Regime (Law 27.801) promoted by the national government.
Two days after its entry into force, Judge Marta Pascual, who is in charge of the Juvenile Criminal Court No. 2 of Lomas de Zamora, ordered the preventive suspension for 60 days of the new Regime that lowers the age of imputability from 16 to 14 years throughout the province of Buenos Aires.
It took place in a court in the province of Buenos Aires and the defense based its decision on the lack of material, institutional and professional conditions necessary to deal with the increase in the detained adolescent population.
