July’s weather set records in Pa. Here’s how August will start

July 2026 proved to be a historically active month for severe weather across Pennsylvania. The NWS State College office issued 12 tornado warnings in July — the most since 1996 — along with 95 severe thunderstorm warnings, the third-highest total for any July on record. Year-to-date severe thunderstorm warning totals have surpassed all previous records.
