The Lawyers' Committee for Human Rights (JUKOM) announced that according to preliminary results in the elections for the High Judicial Council (HJC), the turnout was 93.31 percent, meaning that 2,217 out of 2,376 judges exercised their right to vote for the five members elected from among them.
Judges will vote tomorrow in direct elections for a new member of the Judicial Council from among judges belonging to a community that constitutes more than 20 percent of the population. All 418 judges registered in the Judicial Electoral Register are eligible to vote. Voting begins at 8 a.m. and lasts until 3 p.m. at polling stations in all courts in the country, after which the results will be announced in a public session.
