Judge sentences ‘mad man’ for attempting to smuggle millions in drugs into Canada on Jet Ski

- The plot surfaced after a family discovered a duffel bag on a beach near Port Angeles in April 2021, prompting Police to uncover additional bags containing 114 kilograms of methamphetamine nearby.
- Evidence revealed Sherwood transported approximately 130 kilograms of methamphetamine and nearly a kilogram of fentanyl from California to the Olympic Peninsula, attempting to ferry the $1.5 million shipment across the strait using a jet ski and raft.
- Assistant U.S. Attorney Vince Lombardi described Sherwood and his coconspirators as "the FedEx or the UPS of the drug trafficking crew," while Judge Richard A. Jones sentenced him for persistent criminal behavior.
