Newly Released Images Show Karmelo Anthony at Murder Scene Before & After Stabbing
The release includes surveillance video, body-camera footage and 911 calls as Anthony appeals a 35-year sentence for murder.
On Friday, the 296th District Court released evidence from the Karmelo Anthony murder trial, including crime scene photos, police body-camera footage, and the knife used to fatally stab Austin Metcalf.
Anthony was convicted and sentenced to 35 years in prison on June 9, 2026, for the April 2, 2025, fatal stabbing of Metcalf at Kuykendall Stadium during a Frisco track meet.
Newly public materials include graphic crime scene images and 911 recordings, along with surveillance video showing moments before and after the incident and Anthony being taken into custody by Frisco police.
During the trial, Anthony maintained he acted in self-defense, telling Officer Eduardo Cortez, "He put his hands on me." Jurors ultimately rejected this claim, finding him guilty of murder.
Judge John Roach released the evidence to provide transparency after the trial, having previously restricted media access to ensure a fair trial in the high-profile case.
