La Paz, Sep 16 (EFE).- A Bolivian judge ordered that former President of Bolivia Luis Arce (2020-2025), pre-trially detained since December 2025 for an alleged corruption case, be placed in a hospital to receive "appropriate treatment" for a type of cancer he suffers.
Former President Luis Arce left San Pedro prison in La Paz on Wednesday afternoon and was transferred to the Arco Iris Hospital for specialized medical care, pursuant to a court order. The decision was issued by the 15th Judge of Criminal, Anti-Corruption and Violence against Women of Santa Cruz, Carlos Alberto Moreira, who granted an action for release filed in favor of the ex-mandator and ordered his placement in a specialized centre.
The decision granted after an action of freedom provides for his specialized medical internment while the defense warns of the lack of control of the disease he suffers from since 2017.
The Bolivian government questions a ruling ordering the transfer of former president Luis Arce to a hospital for medical care. The entry Government questions the hospital transfer of Luis Arce was first published in La Patria Bolivia Digital newspaper.
