Cemil Tugay, the Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality (IzBB), who has been rumored for some time to be joining the AKP, has been added back to the CHP's WhatsApp group, which he left in recent weeks.
Journalist İsmail Küçükkaya claimed that regarding the allegations that the Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality would switch to the AKP, "President Erdoğan, at his party's Sapanca camp, sounded out Izmir MPs by asking, 'Should we include Cemil Tugay, what do you think?'"
It was claimed that Cemil Tugay, the Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality who resigned from the CHP, would join the AKP on August 14th. Both municipal and AKP sources denied the claims.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay, who had previously left a WhatsApp group comprised of CHP (Republican People's Party) council members elected in the local elections, has been added back to the group. Following his departure, rumors of him joining the AK Party (Justice and Development Party) resurfaced. It has been learned that Tugay's reason for leaving the group was political disagreements.
Rumors continue that İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay will defect to the AK Party. Although Tugay denies the reports, it is recently claimed that Erdoğan inquired about Cemil Tugay within his own party.
