Man City Defender Josko Gvardiol Signs Contract Extension to 2031
The Croatia defender has 13 goals and 10 assists in 122 appearances and is a key part of City’s long-term plans.
On Tuesday, defender Josko Gvardiol signed a five-year contract extension with Manchester City, committing to the Premier League club until 2031 with an option for an additional 12 months.
Since arriving from RB Leipzig in 2023 for £77 million, Gvardiol has become a cornerstone of the squad, making 122 appearances and winning multiple titles including the Premier League.
The 24-year-old earned the 2024/25 player of the season award with 13 goals and 10 assists, despite reported interest from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Phil Foden and Abdukodir Khusanov also signed long-term deals, securing City's core roster under new manager Enzo Maresca following Pep Guardiola's departure.
Gvardiol said, "As soon as City wanted to renew my contract, I felt straight away it was what I wanted." He described the club as "the best in the world" and expressed confidence in future success.
The English club announced this Tuesday the extension of the contract of Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol. The player who arrived in 2023 is now linked with his club for the next five seasons.
