Leaning in: Josh Duhamel Finds Plenty to Relate to in ‘Neglected’
Duhamel found the role in 'Neglected' intimidating due to its relatable darker elements, prompting him to embrace the challenge.
Actor Josh Duhamel stars in the new film 'Neglected,' playing a detective on his final day of work tasked with finding his son, who was abducted by a serial killer and hidden somewhere in town.
Duhamel admitted being scared of the role initially, though Director David Lipper helped him find the emotional depth needed for the character. Weirdly, Duhamel added, the experience proved therapeutic.
To locate his son, the detective must find other victims who possess crucial clues. With a clock ticking, Duhamel says the investigation is a rush: 'We're going 100 miles an hour for two weeks straight.'
Portraying a father in such desperate circumstances made Duhamel reflect on his own child. He shared that the role was transformative: 'I don't want to think about my kid ever getting kidnapped, but I had to for this.'
The film forces actors to confront 'pretty dark stuff' they would normally avoid. This thematic intensity in 'Neglected' highlights the extreme psychological measures a parent confronts when a child is missing.
