AMMAN GOVERNORATE, JORDAN, AUG 10 – The meeting aims to secure investment deals and support Syria's recovery after the World Bank approved $146 million for electricity sector rehabilitation, focusing on stability and sovereignty.
- On August 12, officials from Jordan, Syria, and the United States are scheduled to convene in Jordan to discuss plans for supporting Syria's reconstruction and promoting stability.
- This meeting follows earlier July talks in Amman that addressed sectarian violence between Druze and Bedouin fighters in Suweida province and efforts to consolidate a ceasefire.
- On Wednesday, Damascus finalized a dozen contracts totaling $14 billion, which include major projects such as a $4 billion airport venture with Qatar’s UCC Holding and a $2 billion subway initiative supported by the UAE’s national investment corporation, involving over 100 companies and highlighting efforts toward post-war reconstruction.
- World Bank Regional Director Jean-Christophe Carret described the rehabilitation of Syria’s electricity sector as a crucial investment, while Saudi Investment Minister Khalid al-Falih announced 47 agreements totaling nearly $3 billion focused on real estate and infrastructure development.
