A woman from Joplin was killed when the car she was in got hit by a train near Tipton Ford Tuesday afternoon. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says it happened at 5:50pm, when a Dodge Charger failed to yield to a KCPS freight train. 64-year-old Patty Mae Sammons was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Charger, a 58-year-old man from Joplin, suffered serious injuries. Source
