Jonathan Bailey and Natalie Portman Team up in Cycling Thriller ‘Pumping Black’
The film follows a 35-year-old cyclist who takes darker measures to keep a secret as the Tour de France race intensifies.
Jonathan Bailey and Natalie Portman will star in Pumping Black, a psychological thriller set in professional cycling, with director Mimi Cave attached to helm the project.
The story follows 35-year-old cyclist Taylor Mace confronting the reality of aging out of elite competition, whose trajectory darkens when he encounters Andrea Lathe, a doctor driven by a relentless desire for power and control.
Drawing tonal comparisons to Whiplash and Black Swan, the project is produced by Stacey Sher and MountainA, with Anton financing and production scheduled for fall.
Anton launches international sales at Cannes, leveraging Bailey's status as 2025's highest-grossing actor following his $869 million success with Jurassic World Rebirth and $540 million from Wicked: For Good.
Sher brings significant industry experience from over two dozen major features amassing nearly $2.7 billion in box office revenue, producing alongside Portman and Sophie Mas for international market appeal.
