Joint Opinion on Draft Speakers on the Geas Reform

The reform of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS) adopted in June 2024 is to be transposed into national law in the individual Member States by the summer of 2026. The Joint Association has repeatedly criticised the GEAS reform, as it represents a significant tightening of asylum law and threatens to undermine the protection of refugees in Europe. This fear is now also confirmed in view of the planned implementation in Germany.
