PM Modi Unveils State-of-the-Art Terminal at Jodhpur Airport, Strengthens Regional Aviation with UDAN Scheme
The ₹480 crore terminal can handle 20 lakh passengers a year as the revamped scheme targets 100 aerodromes and stronger regional flights.
On Saturday, July 4, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Jodhpur Airport terminal and launched the Modified UDAN scheme to enhance regional air connectivity across India.
Built for ₹480 crore, the 23,000 sqm terminal blends Rajasthani heritage design with modern amenities and targets a 5-Star GRIHA rating through energy-efficient systems and green building practices.
With an allocation of ₹28,840 crore over the next 10 years, the scheme prioritizes developing 100 aerodromes from unserved airstrips while earmarking over ₹2,500 crore for maintenance support.
To address accessibility in remote terrains, the government proposes developing 200 modern helipads and procuring indigenous aircraft including HAL Dhruv and Dornier platforms to strengthen regional operations.
Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, and Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat accompanied Modi, with the government expecting the project to boost local tourism and trade.
