Jimmy Eat World Drops Out of Shaky Knees Music Festival Due to Health Issue
Jim Adkins underwent emergency eye surgery after a detached retina, and the band said performing could have caused permanent damage.
Jimmy Eat World canceled upcoming performances at Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville and Shaky Knees in Atlanta after frontman Jim Adkins underwent emergency surgery for a detached retina.
Adkins noticed a "shadow cloud creeping in on my vision" while preparing for the Vans Warped Tour in Mexico City, prompting doctors to order immediate surgery to prevent permanent damage.
Following the procedure, Adkins returned home to begin recovery and posted on Instagram, "We are disappointed to be missing you," expressing gratitude for fan support.
Shaky Knees in Atlanta confirmed that tickets for the band's late-night show will be refunded automatically, noting festival organizers were "so bummed" about the cancellation.
The band has a run of shows scheduled for November and December 2026, and there is no current indication that these upcoming performances will be impacted by the singer's recovery.
