Jets Place Rookie Wide Receiver Omar Cooper Jr. on Injured Reserve with a Sprained Ankle
The New York Jets placed rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper on Injured Reserve on Saturday following a sprained ankle sustained during the Week 1 victory over the Tennessee Titans.
As ESPN's Rich Cimini noted, the 30th overall pick in the 2026 draft played only four offensive snaps before the injury, joining fellow wide receiver Tim Patrick on the injured list.
Before the setback, the former Indiana Hoosiers star and CFP national champion recorded one reception for 30 yards in the 23-10 victory against the Tennessee Titans.
Without Cooper, the Jets will face the Green Bay Packers in Week 2, with the team expecting him to miss at least four weeks of action.
The Jets will have 21 days from opening his practice window to evaluate his status, with his earliest activation arriving after the Week 5 game against the Cleveland Browns.
