2 People Killed in Small Plane Crash in Jessamine County
The cause remains under federal investigation after the single-engine aircraft went off radar and sent distress signals before the crash, officials said.
Two people died Saturday morning in a plane crash near Nicholasville, Kentucky, after emergency units responded to reports of a downed aircraft.
Numerous 911 calls helped emergency responders locate the crash site on a farm off KY-169 between U.S. 27 and U.S. 68 around 8:45 a.m. Saturday.
Online flight records show the CA6-WB aircraft, registered as N82BT, departed Blue Grass Airport at 8:40 a.m. and disappeared from radar six minutes later.
Jessamine County Sheriff Kevin Grimes confirmed the fatalities, while the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration arrived to investigate the accident.
Authorities have not released the identities of the deceased, and the investigation into the cause of this "small aircraft" crash remains ongoing under NTSB and FAA oversight.
