Jeremy Corbyn confirms plan to create new political party with Zarah Sultana
UNITED KINGDOM, JUL 24 – The new party targets wealth redistribution, public ownership, and an NHS free from privatisation amid claims 4.5 million children live in poverty in the UK, Corbyn said.
- On Thursday, Jeremy Corbyn confirmed he is launching a new political party with Zarah Sultana, aimed at challenging Labour and advocating wealth redistribution.
- Following her departure from Labour earlier this month, Sultana lost the Labour whip last year and Corbyn has sat as an independent since his 2024 expulsion, with the party set to contest May's local elections.
- To mobilise support, the duo opened registrations at yourparty.uk and call for a mass redistribution of wealth and power including taxing the richest, council-house building, and public ownership.
- Polling data suggests the new party could win about 10 per cent of the vote, while Labour dismissed the move, with a Labour Party source saying the electorate has twice given its verdict on a Jeremy Corbyn led party.
- In a Thursday post on X, Corbyn declared that the party's members will decide the party’s direction, leadership model and policies at the inaugural conference in the near future.
