Jazzy Francik pitches Florida State to 20th ACC softball title, 2-1 over Virginia Tech
Kennedy Harp drove in one run and scored the other as Jazzy Francik limited Virginia Tech to one run in six innings.
On Saturday, top-seeded Florida State defeated third-seeded Virginia Tech 2-1 to capture the program's 20th ACC Softball Championship at Palmer Park.
Virginia Tech took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning following a throwing error by Isa Torres, but Florida State answered in the second as Kennedy Harp drove in Bella Ruggiero before scoring on a passed ball.
ACC Pitcher of the Year Jazzy Francik earned the win, allowing one run over six innings while striking out six, and forced a lineout to escape a bases-loaded threat in the sixth.
This championship victory completed a clean sweep for Florida State, which also holds its 19th regular-season title, and the Seminoles now await their NCAA Tournament placement during the selection show on Sunday at 7 p.m.
Saturday's win could bolster Florida State's chances of earning a top-eight national seed and hosting regional play, while Virginia Tech anticipates its own NCAA tournament bid.
