A record number of 21.5 million foreign tourists visited Japan in the first six months of this year, an increase of 21% over the first half of 2024, according to official statistics published on Wednesday. “The figure exceeded 20 million in just six months, the fastest rate ever recorded,” the office noted. As many tourists as never visited Japan in the first half of the year, there were 21.5 million tourists from January to June, 21 percent more than in the same period last year, as the Japanese tourist organization announced on Wednesday.

Japan welcomed a record number of foreign tourists in the first half of this year. According to the Japanese National Tourism Agency, 21.5 million visitors arrived, an increase of one-fifth compared to the same period a year earlier.
