Judo: Uta Abe back on top with women's 52-kg worlds gold in Hungary
Japan's Uta Abe claimed her fifth judo world championship in the women's 52-kilogram competition, but older brother Hifumi was only able to win bronze as compatriot Takeshi Takeoka topped the men's 66-kg podium in Budapest.

The -52 kg category at the 2025 World Judo Championships in Budapest had the world watching for one name above all—Uta Abe. After a shocking early exit at the Paris Olympics, she entered the Worlds unseeded, a rare status for a reigning Olympic and world champion.
