After Alexander Zverev's victory against bin Shelton in the US Open final on Sunday 13 September, the new ATP classification was updated, the American finalist climbed to 4th place and German narrowed the gap with Jannik Sinner keeping his 2nd place. Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic has fallen to 12th in the men's singles world rankings, his lowest ranking in more than eight years. Djokovic suffered injuries in 2017 and 2018, reaching a low of 22nd in the world rankings before returning to the top 10 in July and becoming world number one in November 2018.
Italian Jannik Sinner still tops the world tennis rankings, but second-place Alexander Zverev has lost over 3,000 points. The German triumphed in Sunday's US Open Grand Slam final. Hubert Hurkacz is the highest-ranked Pole.
The Serbian lost 790 points after being eliminated in the first round, while new champion Aleksandar Zverev remained second.
Novak Djokovic was eliminated from the US Open and is no longer a member of the World Top 10 on Monday.
