Jamie Dimon Says AI Spending Could Hit $1 Trillion in 2027
Spending across the hyperscaler ecosystem has more than doubled to about $700 billion this year, Dimon said, as AI investment continues to accelerate.
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon reported Monday that investment across the hyperscaler ecosystem could reach $1 trillion next year, up from around $700 billion this year.
Dimon told the JPMorgan India Conference that this spending provides roughly a 1% increase to GDP each year, though it 'may add a little bit to inflation' as companies build factories and power plants.
Asked about returns on AI spending, Dimon said 'sometimes it's just table stakes,' invoking the internet bubble to illustrate why picking winners remains difficult despite the massive capital deployment.
Regarding inflation, Dimon warned 'there's a chance it won't' cool as hoped, and said the Federal Reserve should maintain its 2% inflation target despite upward pressure from competing capital demands.
Turning to India, Dimon called for completing a trade agreement, noting the process 'obviously hasn't moved forward,' and said India's economy could grow to three times its current size over the next decade.
