DELHI, INDIA, JUL 14 – External Affairs Minister Jaishankar urged avoiding trade restrictions and emphasized border de-escalation after nine months of progress to restore mutual strategic trust between India and China.
- External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar visited Beijing on Monday to meet Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, marking his first trip since the border tensions began in eastern Ladakh in 2020.
- The visit and talks followed a gradual thaw in India-China ties after a deadly 2020 border clash and a new border patrolling arrangement agreed in October 2024 at the BRICS Summit in Kazan.
