A 90-year-old former judge was defrauded of Rs 2.5 crore by cyber fraudsters impersonating officials. The fraudsters kept the victim under digital arrest for approximately fifteen days. They convinced him to transfer money from his bank accounts to theirs. An alert SBI manager prevented further transactions, revealing the elaborate scam. Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident further.

The incident came to light after an SBI manager stopped Ganpat Singh Bhandari from transferring more money from his Public Provident Fund (PPF) account.

According to the FIR lodged on a complaint by his nephew Ravindra Singh Mohnot, Ganpat Singh Bhandari received a WhatsApp video call on July 28 from an unidentified number.
