White said Trump’s comments about Iran and California showed he was the “worst American of all time,” renewing a critique he first made in April.
- On Monday, President Donald Trump stated at a Grand Island, Nebraska rally that potential attacks on Los Angeles and San Diego by Iran would be a "small price to pay" for keeping the country safe.
- Criticizing the comments on Tuesday, The White Stripes frontman White used Instagram to ask California residents how they feel about Trump "recommending that the cities you live in get attacked," labeling the president a "corrupt felon."
- White House Director of Communications Steven Cheung issued a statement Wednesday calling the criticism a "media freakout," asserting Trump was "clearly stating US cities would have been threatened if a nuclear Iran hadn't been stopped."
- The recent exchange continues a long-standing feud between White and Trump, which included an April flare-up after Trump shared a bizarre AI-generated image of himself as a Christ-like healer following a verbal attack on the US-born Pope Leo XIV.
- With mid term elections approaching next month, White accused Trump of planning "illegal measures" to prevent democracy, reiterating his view that the president is "The Worst American.
