Ivrea Carnival: Oranges become compost and renewable energy

This annual carnival is held in the Italian city of Ivrea, located in the Piedmont region. The festival is known for the Battle of the Oranges, which lasts for three days, the last Saturday and the last Sunday before Lent.

PINEROLO – Once the Ivrea Carnival celebrations and the three days of the historic battle were over, the oranges used were collected and delivered to the various plants by the company that handles waste collection in the city, Società Canavesana Servizi.

The oranges of the three-day battle of the Ivrea Carnival (Turin), which ended yesterday, will become compost, renewable electrical and thermal energy and biomethane.
