Barton will oversee his fourth match at the tournament after showing the only red card he has issued so far.
On Tuesday, Salvadoran referee Ivan Barton will officiate the World Cup semifinal between France and Spain at the home of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys.
The 35-year-old Barton brings tournament experience from four previous matches, including Japan versus Sweden and Switzerland versus Colombia.
During the group stage match between Turkey and Paraguay, Barton issued his only red card of the tournament to Miguel Almiron after an on-field confrontation.
Supporting Barton are Salvadoran assistant David Moran and Antonio Pupiro from Nicaragua, with fourth official Glenn Nyberg from Sweden and video review leads Tomasz Kwiatkowski from Poland, Dennis Higler from the Netherlands, and Guillermo Pacheco from Mexico.
England plays Argentina in Atlanta on Wednesday, marking the second semifinal match of this year's FIFA World Cup tournament.
