The São Paulo police recovered eight engravings of Henri Matisse valued at 200 thousand dollars, while in Parma, Italy, works of this author were also recovered, as well as of Renoir and Cézanne, valued at more than 9 million euros. They are two blows against the art traffic registered this week.
After a search of nearly five months, the Italian police have recovered several stolen works by famous French painters. Footage of the theft has also been released for the first time. It shows two masked men carrying out their heist in less than three minutes.
The three paintings, with a combined value of more than 9 million euros, have been recovered in Parma. Five suspects have been arrested. Eight paintings by Matisse were also recovered in Brazil.
The three paintings were stolen from the Fondazione Magnani Rocca Museum in the Parma region.
