Rockstar Confirms One Thing Missing From the GTA 6 Map Many Fans Wanted
Rockstar said the sequel will instead use selective Florida-inspired landmarks and parody references to build its open world.
On Tuesday, Rockstar Games confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6, set in the fictional state of Leonida, will not feature direct spoofs of Florida-based theme parks like Disney World or Universal Studios.
Paul MacPherson, Rockstar's senior vice president of environment art, explained the team must "constantly evaluate" landmarks to serve the game's needs while achieving a "full Florida experience."
Official marketing materials indicate the game includes a large alligator-themed park resembling Gatorland, while Reddit users spotted a parody of NASA called "NADA" on T-shirts in promotional materials.
Players may still find Disney-esque references, including a Minnie Mouse-style character linked to Fred's Pictures, an in-universe company first seen in earlier titles, before the November 19 launch on PS5 and Xbox.
The expansive map will feature over 170 types of animals accessible in a dedicated zoo, though questions remain about parody intensity following Dan Houser's 2020 departure from Rockstar.
