'It is a tragic event': Three dead after Central Queensland house blaze
Fire investigators and police are working to determine the cause after a two-storey home was destroyed, killing three people, with six fire crews attending the blaze.
- On Wednesday, three people died after a fire tore through a two-storey home on Whiting Street in Toolooa, central Queensland just before 6am.
- With the cause unknown, authorities declared a crime scene and notified fire investigators to work with Queensland Fire Department and police.
- Six fire crews were called to the scene, and five fire crews arrived shortly after finding the two-storey home engulfed in flames.
- Structural damage and partial collapse delayed primary search efforts until the fire was controlled, and paramedics did not treat anyone as bodies were recovered from the remaining building.
- Capricornia Detective Acting Superintendent Luke Peachey told reporters authorities are still identifying the victims and said it will be a number of days before investigators understand what happened.
