TF1 Launches Legal Action Against Canal+ TV+ Platform

TF1 has begun legal action against Canal+ over the platform’s low-cost TV offer. Canal launched TV+ in Spring 2024, offering subscribers access to around 80 different channels, at a cost of €2 a month. TF1 launched a judicial attack against CANAL+ and its TV+ offer at 2 euros, accusing the encrypted channel of parasitism and infringement of its rights. The stakes ? Access to the free channels of the TNT, including those of the TF1 group, and an interpretation deemed too generous of a European regulation by CANAL+, which could cost the group of the front page, but also, in the long run, viewers.
