Israel Military Says Soldier Killed in South Lebanon

JERUSALEM (AFP) : The Israeli military on Monday said a soldier was killed a day earlier in combat in southern Lebanon, bringing to six the number of troops killed since fighting with Hezbollah started earlier in March. “Sergeant Liran Ben Zion, aged 19, from Holon… fell during combat in southern Lebanon,” the military said.

On Monday, the Israeli Army announced the death of 19-year-old Sergeant Liran Ben Zion, a member of the 401 Armored Brigade, in combat in southern Lebanon. He is now Israel’s sixth soldier killed in combat in Lebanese territory since February 28, when the country launched a war against Iran with the United States. In the same incident, another officer was seriously injured and had to be taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
