AI Startup Island Valued at $6.4 Billion in Latest Funding Round
The browser and data security company said the new funding will support growth as enterprises expand AI agent use.
- On Thursday, Dallas-based browser and data security company Island closed a $400 million Series F financing round at a $6.4 billion valuation.
- Island's valuation has more than doubled from $3 billion in 2024 to $5 billion last year, driven by enterprise demand for AI-ready security and defenses against rogue agents following the OpenAI attack on Hugging Face.
- Evolution Equity Partners led the round alongside Prysm Capital, Sequoia Capital, Coatue Management, Cyberstarts, Insight Partners, Morgan Growth Equity Partners, Alta Park Capital, Georgian, Squared, Squarepoint, and Dmitri Alperovitch; Island ranks No. 28 on this year's CNBC Disruptor list and counts Pfizer, Chipotle, and American Airlines among customers.
- Island will deploy the capital toward research and development, geographic expansion into Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, and workforce growth beyond its current 1,000 employees by mid-next year, CEO Mike Fey said.
- Founded by Dan Amiga and CEO Mike Fey, Island built the Enterprise Browser to control browser activity in hybrid work where Browsers are prime hacker targets, competing against Palo Alto Networks with the strategy: "It's really simple: Have a much better product," Fey said.
