"Is There a Law for 0.3% of Cases?": the End-of-Life Debate Seen by Palliative Care Professionals

Two texts on end-of-life are currently being considered by MEPs, before a solemn vote is due on 27 May. One concerns palliative care, the other aims to open up the possibility of a "help to die" under strict eligibility conditions. The National Assembly adopted, on Saturday 17 May, the key article of the bill introducing a "right to help die", by 75 votes to 41. The text states that patients will have to self-administer the lethal substance, except when they do not have the capacity to do so.
