Tension is growing in Mexico due to delays in reforming the Aztec Stadium. FIFA established in December 2024 that the inaugural World Cup match of the United States, Mexico and Canada 2026 will be played on June 11 and that the stage for the event will be the mythical Aztec Stadium, which would become the only venue in the world to host matches of three different editions of the competition: 1970, 1986 and now 2026.
