- On Sunday, July 27, armed fighters attacked a Catholic church in the Komanda region, killing at least 43 and taking captives, the Allied Democratic Forces claimed.
- The Allied Democratic Forces, led by Musa Seka Baluku, pledged allegiance to ISIL in 2019 and relies on financial support from ISIL central.
- ACLED reported that between January and March 2025, M23 and ADF/IS-CA action killed 1,600 people, and MONUSCO noted a July 8–9 attack killed 41 civilians in Irumu.
- Following the signing of key peace accords with Rwanda and M23, MONUSCO’s Vivian van de Perre condemned the attacks as violations.
- Their report to the U.N. Security Council said JNIM and al-Shabab have expanded territory, highlighting increased threats in Africa, according to United Nations experts on Wednesday.
