Hazmat Crews Respond to Irvine Home of Teen Whose Science Lab Sparked FBI Probe
Irvine police said there was no known threat to the community as agents inspected three storage bins and the family was forced to leave again.

- This marks the second investigation this year into 18-year-old UC Irvine graduate Amalvin Fritz, who researches cancer therapeutics; federal agents previously investigated his family's former rental property in February.
- Attorney Charles Ray stated the family is cooperating with law enforcement and the chemicals are common household items. "The family is beyond frustrated that this is happening again, and that people are scared of what they don't understand," Ray told authorities.
- Irvine police confirmed no evacuations were ordered and officials found no immediate threat to the community. Ray expects "no charges in this incident," mirroring the outcome of the prior February investigation.
- Neighbor and planning commissioner Raj Bhatia voiced concerns regarding the recurring nature of the investigations, questioning why the teen continues conducting hazmat materials in a residential area at his age.
