In the stream of stories of sexual abuse by priests that have broken the silence, thinking about the prevalence and latency of the problem makes me want to understand how it can go on for so long and openly, why changes in the church's thinking are so slow or not happening at all. I see the point in sharing the experiences and insights that I have accumulated over many years working on the topic of various types of violence.
