The Deputy Public Relations Office of the Martyrs' Corps of West Azerbaijan Province announced in a statement: "Mamosta Mohammad Nozhati, the Sunni Friday imam of Piranshahr, was martyred in the assassination incident by Kurdish separatist groups."
The IRGC statement said: "Targeting a prominent figure is a desperate attempt to create divisions and divisions among Muslims, destroy the unity of Shiites and Sunnis, and deprive society of security and peace."
