Delhi Court Frames Criminal Charges Against Lalu Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, Rabri Devi in IRCTC Scam Case
The court framed charges of corruption, criminal conspiracy, and cheating against Lalu Yadav's family and 11 others in the IRCTC hotel contract case, the CBI said.
- On October 13, the Rouse Avenue Court will pronounce its order after framing corruption, criminal conspiracy and cheating charges against Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav.
- The Central Bureau of Investigation alleges contract allotments for BNR Ranchi and BNR Puri hotels during 2004–2009 led to Lalu Prasad Yadav acquiring three acres through a benami company.
- Prosecutors invoked Section 120B of the Indian Penal Code , charged the accused with cheating and conspiracy, and said the Central Bureau of Investigation raided 12 locations linked to the family.
- Accused denied the charges and said all three key accused pleaded not guilty, rejected the allegations and are ready to face trial, while the court found sufficient material and noted undue benefits to the Yadav family.
- From October 27 the Rouse Avenue Court will hold day-to-day hearings in the IRCTC case after the Land-for-job hearing was deferred to November 10, a setback for the Rashtriya Janata Dal ahead of the Bihar Assembly polls.
