The Iraqi national football team has probably experienced the most bitter way ever to be eliminated. Following a draw in a hotel, the team learned that it cannot continue in the Gulf Cup.
The Saudi team decided to meet its Iraqi counterpart by winning with no response, in the match held between them on Tuesday, at the development stadium in Jeddah, in the third and final round of the group tournament of the 27th Gulf football tournament.
It is often just a clause in tournament rules: if everything is truly tied between two teams in a group, a draw determines who advances. That became a reality in the Gulf Cup between Oman and Iraq. After the final match, lots were drawn in a hotel, which was won by Oman.
