TEHRAN PROVINCE, IRAN, JUL 21 – Iran denies European trio's right to trigger UN snapback sanctions, citing their breach of the 2015 nuclear deal and failure to lift sanctions despite Iran's compliance, officials said.
- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the E3 lacks the legal standing to invoke the snapback mechanism, citing their stance on Israeli and US strikes last month, making them no longer participants in the 2015 nuclear deal.
- Amid stalled nuclear talks, Iran’s Foreign Ministry accused France, Germany, and the UK of failing to honor the 2015 JCPOA, citing recent threats to reimpose sanctions.
- On Tuesday, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke by phone, confirming Friday's Istanbul meeting, and Iran will host a trilateral meeting Tuesday with Chinese and Russian representatives, according to officials.
