Senior Iranian Official Warns War with Israel Could Break Out Anytime
Iranian adviser Yahya Rahim Safavi said no formal ceasefire exists and Iran is rebuilding military strength to prepare for possible renewed conflict with Israel after June's 12-day war.
- On August 18, 2025, senior Iranian official Yahya Rahim Safavi cautioned that the recent pause in hostilities following June’s conflict with Israel is temporary and that full-scale fighting might resume at any time.
- The warning comes after a 12-day conflict in June during which Israel targeted Iranian nuclear and military facilities, causing over 1,000 casualties, and Iran responded with missile and drone attacks resulting in dozens of fatalities within Israel.
- Iranian officials, including a top vice president and military adviser Yahya Rahim Safavi, emphasized that there is no formal ceasefire in place, only a temporary pause in hostilities without any official agreements or protocols.
- Safavi said, “We are not in a ceasefire now, we are in a war phase,” adding that “everything can resume” and “everything is possible,” highlighting persistent tensions.
- The situation suggests continued instability, with Iran rebuilding its military amid threats of renewed confrontation and Western powers threatening sanctions for Iran’s nuclear activities.
