The United States announced Sunday evening that it had conducted strikes during the weekend in southern Iran, with Tehran responding this Monday that it had targeted a base used by the US Army for strikes.
This wave of U.S. attacks, the third in just over a week, targeted the city of Goruk and Qeshm Island, reported the U.S. Army Central Command.
The Central Command of the United States Armed Forces (CENTCOM) stated that the United States military, in self-defence, had attacked Iranian radars and drone control points in Goruk city and Kashm island in southern Iran. "The exact and targeted strikes were carried out on Saturday and Sunday in response to Iran's aggression, including the shooting down of an American drone MQ-1 in international waters.
The US military announced it had attacked targets in Iran over the past two days of the weekend, while Tehran retaliated by targeting bases housing US troops in the region.
In retaliation for US attacks on military facilities in Iran over the weekend, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced on June 1 an attack on a US base.
