NATIONWIDE, JUL 2 – Operation Dry Water targets impaired boating with increased patrols and education nationwide, removing 584 impaired operators in 2024 to reduce accidents and fatalities, officials said.
- From July 4 to 6, enforcement agencies nationwide will increase patrols during Operation Dry Water to prevent boating under the influence incidents.
- This campaign responds to high boating activity over the holiday and recent fatalities, including 14 deaths in Wisconsin in 2024.
- Officials urge all boaters to wear life jackets, especially children 12 and under, avoid alcohol impairment, and prepare for emergencies on the water.
