A weather station in Russell recorded 7.44 inches of rain as storms left soils wetter and crops mostly rated good to excellent, USDA said.
- On Monday, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig reported severe storms damaged crops and homes across eastern and southern Iowa during the June 8 through June 14 reporting period.
- Above-Average rainfall for the second consecutive week caused flooding in some fields, limiting farmers to 3.6 days suitable for fieldwork and creating what Naig called "challenging conditions for farmers."
- Despite the weather, corn and soybean emergence reached 97% and 95% respectively, while oat conditions rated 83% good to excellent and pasture and soybean conditions reached 77%.
- The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service reported 19% of topsoil and 13% of subsoil have surplus moisture, an increase from 9% and 7% the previous week.
- State Climatologist Justin Glisan noted average temperatures reached 73.2 degrees Fahrenheit, and despite damaging storms, the state's main crop conditions remain stable and ahead of last year's schedule.
