Deadly Boat Crash on the Merrimack; Man Drowns in Manchester
Authorities said the death is not believed suspicious as investigators examine how the jet ski struck the pontoon boat.
On Sunday, July 26, 2026, 31-year-old Erick Machado of Nashua died after his personal watercraft collided with a pontoon boat on the Merrimack River in Hudson, New Hampshire, according to State Police.
A preliminary investigation found the collision occurred shortly after 5 p.m. when the jet ski hit the rear of the pontoon boat, throwing Machado into the water where he was struck by the boat's propeller, causing "severe injuries."
Hudson police and fire departments attempted life-saving measures after 911 calls from the pontoon boat occupants prompted immediate rescue, but officials pronounced the 31-year-old dead at the scene.
State Police continue to investigate the fatal incident, noting that the death is not currently believed to be suspicious as they examine the circumstances on the Merrimack River.
