Instagram Reels Come to Fire TV: Here's What to Know

On Tuesday, Meta said it will test an Instagram for TV app in the United States on Amazon Fire TV, bringing Reels from creators to connected televisions.
To capture living-room attention, Instagram moved to TV to better compete with YouTube after Instagram head Adam Mosseri signaled in October they were late to explore TV a few years ago.
The TV app includes Reels organized into channels and categories by interests, autoplay and skip playback controls, and multi-profile support for up to five accounts with liking, commenting and re-sharing features.
Based on the Amazon test, the rollout could increase pressure on linear TV and premium streaming as Instagram plans expansion to more devices and countries next year without initial advertising, though advertisers will watch closely.
In the broader market, Reels now accounts for more than half of Instagram viewing time, and Mark Zuckerberg said it has a $50 billion annual run rate, rivaling YouTube's $41 billion, leaving TikTok as the last without a TV app.
